Material Handling and/orVessel Supervisor Schedule:
Midwest Terminals operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Employees may work 8- to 12-hour shifts based on operational needs and vessel schedules. During vessel unloading operations, crews may work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts until unloading is complete. Weekend work may be required during the shipping season. Part-time employees will be given as much advance notice as possible when shifts become available. Employees may then indicate whether or not they are available to work the offered shift.Job Duties:
Safely move materials to and from vessels, barges, railcars, trucks, and warehouses. Perform general labor and material handling duties as assigned. Complete grounds maintenance tasks including painting, cleaning, organizing work areas, fueling equipment, and washing equipment. Follow all operational and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure materials are moved safely and efficiently. Maintain a safe and productive work environment.Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Driver's License required. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. General understanding of material handling and equipment operations preferred; training provided. Commitment to safe work practices. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, snow, and cold temperatures. Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, stand, reach, and perform other physical job duties. Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing as part of our drug-free workplace program.
