Job Description
Loading and shot preparation Load blast holes with PVC casing/liner pipe in wet, caving, or broken ground Carry, stage, and load explosive products, boosters, and detonators as directed by the licensed Blaster-in-Charge Run down lines, tie in surface delays, and lay out detonating cord per the shot plan Stem holes with crushed stone or drill cuttings and tamp to spec Measure and record hole depths, water depth, and loading records Drilling support Assist the driller with rod/steel changes, bit changes, and moving drill steel Move, drag, and connect air hoses, water lines, and dust-collection equipment Help spot, level, and reposition the drill between holes Flag, mark, and measure drill patterns; stake burden and spacing General site labor Heavy shovel work — cleaning cuttings off the bench, backfilling, stemming, and grading around holes Clear brush, rock, and debris from the bench and access roads Place and pull blasting mats Guard access points and roads during blast clearing Load and unload trucks and trailers by hand Fuel, grease, and perform daily inspections on equipment General housekeeping, cleanup, and magazine/site maintenance
