Job Description
PUBLIC WORKS LABORER
Public Works Laborer is responsible to the Public Works Department & Village Board for the implementation and completion of the following: Knowledge/Skills to have or obtain: Minimum High School Diploma Class A or Class B CDL License (including airbrakes & Tanker endorsement) Water & wastewater treatment licenses or willing to obtain licenses required for job within two years of hire Attend classes or workshops to gain & maintain knowledge of water & wastewater treatment plants Good time management and self-motivation skills Knowledge of pumps: centrifugal, diaphragm, etc. Welding General knowledge of electrical- 1 phase and 3 phase Computer skills Hands-On
Physical Job Duties:
Ability to be on feet 6-8 hours per day Ability to bend, twist, squat, climb, reach Ability to drive 8 hours Ability to operate foot controls on equipment Ability to shovel- dirt, snow, blacktop, etc. Operate grader, loader, dump/plow truck, etc. Lifting
- 200# maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of 50# items Maintenance of village property
- grounds and buildings, including cleaning, painting, plumbing repairs, etc.
