This position is ideal for someone looking for a few hours of work in the morning, a few hours in the afternoon, or both. If you enjoy working with children, take pride in keeping things clean and organized, and understand the responsibility that comes with safely transporting children, we want to hear from you! Our transportation vehicles are an extension of our childcare program. We expect them to be clean, organized, well-maintained, safe, and road-ready every day. ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Child Safety Safely transport children to and from area schools, with occasional transportation for field trips and special activities Follow designated routes, school schedules, pick-up locations, and drop-off procedures Adhere to all traffic laws, transportation policies, and childcare safety requirements Assist children with safely entering and exiting vehicles Ensure children are properly secured using required seat belts/restraints Maintain appropriate supervision and child safety standards throughout transportation Maintain accurate transportation rosters and complete required name-to-face accountability Verify every child is accounted for before departing each location Complete a thorough vehicle sweep after every route to ensure no child is ever left in a vehicle Communicate professionally and compassionately with children, families, school personnel, and Bright Beginnings staff Immediately report accidents, incidents, delays, safety concerns, or situations involving a child who cannot be located as expected Vehicle Care, Cleanliness & Organization Our drivers are expected to take pride and ownership in the vehicles they operate.
Responsibilities include:
Keep assigned vans immaculate, clean, and presentable inside and outside Maintain a clean, sanitized, and clutter-free passenger area Remove trash and personal items after every route Keep transportation supplies, emergency equipment, paperwork, and required vehicle materials organized Ensure aisles, entrances, exits, and seating areas remain clear and safe Regularly wash and maintain the exterior appearance of assigned vehicles Clean windows and mirrors as needed to maintain safe visibility Ensure vehicles are appropriately fueled and road-ready before scheduled routes Conduct and document required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Monitor tires, lights, mirrors, seat belts/restraints, fluid levels, warning indicators, and other basic safety items Immediately report unusual noises, warning lights, mechanical problems, damage, or maintenance concerns Never knowingly operate a vehicle that appears unsafe or is not road-ready Notify leadership when routine or preventive maintenance is due Help coordinate vehicle servicing and maintenance as assigned Maintain vehicle records, inspection documentation, fuel receipts, and other transportation documentation as required Ensure required emergency and safety equipment remains present, organized, accessible, and ready for use Our expectation is simple: when you finish your route, the next driver should be able to get into a clean, organized, fueled, inspected, safe, and road-ready vehicle. Requirements Must be at least 25 years old Valid driver's license Clean/acceptable driving record Ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements Previous professional driving experience preferred Previous experience transporting children is strongly preferred Excellent communication and organizational skills Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to maintain a calm, professional, and friendly demeanor with children Knowledge of local traffic laws and safe-driving practices Ability to safely operate assigned transportation vehicles Ability to complete required vehicle inspections and documentation Ability to meet applicable Arizona childcare licensing, background clearance, training, and certification requirements Schedule We are hiring for AM routes, PM routes, or both . This position is especially well suited for someone who wants a few hours of work in the morning and/or a few hours in the afternoon rather than a traditional eight-hour workday. Additional hours within our School-Age Program may be available for qualified candidates who would like a larger schedule. Compensation Starting at $17.00 per hour , with compensation above the starting rate based on relevant experience, qualifications, driving history, and availability.
