Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Warehouse Planner II is responsible for planning, analyzing, and optimizing inventory levels through effective Material Requirements Planning (MRP). This position ensures materials are available to support safe and reliable mining operations by maintaining accurate planning parameters, forecasting demand, and collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams. The role is responsible for balancing material availability with inventory investment by continuously improving planning processes, inventory health, and master data quality while supporting operational excellence across the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Planning & Material Availability Review and execute Material Requirements Planning (MRP) recommendations to ensure timely replenishment of inventory. Forecast material demand using historical consumption, maintenance schedules, production forecasts, and operational requirements. Generate purchase requisitions based on planning requirements and approved inventory strategies. Monitor inventory availability to ensure critical materials are available to support uninterrupted operations. Coordinate inventory balancing opportunities across sites when appropriate. Inventory Optimization Maintain optimal inventory levels while balancing service level and inventory investment. Review inventory health by identifying obsolete, excess, slow-moving, dormant, and critical materials. Participate in periodic inventory review meetings with Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Supply Chain. Recommend disposition strategies for obsolete and excess inventory. Support initiatives related to Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Consignment Inventory, and Long-Term Pricing Agreements. Master Data & MRP Governance Maintain planning master data within SAP, including: Reorder Points Safety Stock Maximum Inventory Levels Lead Times Planning Strategies Lot Sizing Procurement Types Continuously review planning parameters to improve MRP performance and inventory accuracy. Ensure planning data supports operational requirements and aligns with Supply Chain standards. Procurement & Supplier Coordination Expedite Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders with Procurement to minimize stockout risks. Track overdue purchase orders and coordinate corrective actions with Purchasing. Support strategic sourcing initiatives by identifying opportunities for supplier optimization and inventory improvements. Cross Functional Collaboration Participate in weekly Maintenance and Operations planning meetings. Build collaborative relationships with: Warehouse Operations Maintenance Reliability Engineering Purchasing Strategic Sourcing Finance Provide planning support for shutdowns, capital projects, and major maintenance activities. Inventory Analytics & Reporting Analyze inventory trends and material consumption. Develop reports and dashboards using SAP, Excel, and Power BI. Monitor and report inventory performance indicators. Identify trends and recommend corrective actions based on data analysis. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to standardize planning processes. Support warehouse digitalization and automation initiatives. Participate in Supply Chain continuous improvement projects. Promote best practices in inventory planning and warehouse management. Safety & Compliance Perform all responsibilities in accordance with ASARCO's Safety First philosophy. Comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures. Promote safe work practices and proactively identify opportunities to reduce operational risk. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Performance in this role will typically be measured through: Inventory Service Level Inventory Turns OTIF (On Time In Full) Stockout Rate Obsolete Inventory Value Slow Moving Inventory Excess Inventory Planning Parameter Accuracy Material Availability Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum three (3) years of experience in Inventory Management, Warehouse Planning, Supply Chain, or Materials Management. Minimum one (1) year of experience working with Material Requirements Planning (MRP). Experience working in mining, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments preferred. Experience using SAP or equivalent ERP systems. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Power BI experience preferred. English proficiency (minimum CEFR B2).
