The Production Planner, reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing production schedules that ensure customer orders are delivered on time while maximizing manufacturing efficiency and resource utilization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong analytical and communication skills. This individual will own daily production planning activities, maintain ERP/MRP system accuracy, coordinate closely with Procurement to resolve material shortages, provide timely order status updates to internal stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance on-time delivery, schedule adherence, and overall operational performance. Success in this role requires the ability to balance competing priorities, make data-driven decisions, and effectively communicate across multiple departments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Which tasks will you perform?
You will:
- Release work order packages to the shop floor based on ERP requirements, customer demand, and production priorities.
- Monitor all open production orders and proactively identify risks that could impact delivery performance.
- Determine production priorities by reviewing customer demand, expedite requests, capacity constraints, and business objectives.
- Update ERP systems daily to reflect production progress, order status changes, material availability, and potential delivery impacts.
- Review backlog, demand changes, and production priorities on a daily basis and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Review all expedite requests and orders booked inside standard lead time to determine feasibility and production impacts.
- Communicate daily with Procurement, Order Management to monitor component arrivals and material shortages.
- Lead regular production planning meetings to review schedule adherence, capacity, material availability, and delivery commitments.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to resolve issues affecting schedule performance and on-time delivery.
- Responsible for achieving and supporting company objectives related to on-time delivery, schedule adherence, Kanban inventory control, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance planning. accuracy, scheduling efficiency, and operational performance.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures. What do we expect from you?
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years in production planning and scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in sophisticated planning and scheduling software such as SAP.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of production processes and supply chain dynamics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively assess, lead, and implement continuous improvement methods (e.g., pull systems, Kanban)
- Capability working with Microsoft Office; proficient in Excel formulas, look-ups and pivot tables.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
- APICS certified in Planning & Inventory Management is a plus.
- Being Self-Motivated and relying on own strengths to accomplish goals.
