SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing detail oriented, results driven performance of dry and temperature
  • controlled transportation, freight brokerage, and managing/tracking of LTL and FTL shipments in the food supply chain.
This role is vital for ensuring perishable goods are transported efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory standards. The clerk will use their strong understanding of cold chain logistics and freight market dynamics to ensure customer satisfaction of shipments with a focus on cost, compliance, quality and timely results. This role requires excellent communication and follow up, paired with an ability to proactively prevent issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and manage both dry and temperature-controlled (chill/frozen) LTL and FTL shipments across regional and national routes. Act as a point of contact between shippers and carriers providing best rates and booking loads to ensure timely and efficient pickups and deliveries. Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, and internal departments to establish efficient order fulfillment and scheduling. Maintain the integrity of perishable goods by verifying cold chain protocols and temperature control requirements with carriers. Use logistics software and tracking systems to manage orders. Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve any delivery issues, providing real time updates through clear and accurate communication to customers. Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and carrier performance. Create accurate and complete shipping documents (BOLS, load tenders, etc.). Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; Actively picking up the phone to deal with issues or provide necessary follow up to create successful outcomes. Prioritize work and take actions as real-time situations and urgency requirements change; Use your ability to multi-task to support department needs. Work as a team player to help where needed. Cross

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum 1 year experience in logistics/ transportation brokerage preferred. Experience with food and cold-chain shipments is a plus. Bilingual English /Spanish is a plus.
