Job Description
Hiring a Logistics Clerk for a Start Up Drone Company in Hayward, CA! Job Description The Import Export Clerk monitors inbound and outbound shipments, prepares and reviews customs documentation, and supports the overall flow of international shipments. This role validates HTS classifications and declared values, ensures accurate customs entry filings, and coordinates closely with customs brokers, carriers, and internal teams. The position also handles dangerous goods shipping documentation, manages shipment reroutes and returns, and contributes to behind-the-scenes compliance and documentation tasks. Typical working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Responsibilities Track and trace inbound and outbound shipments to ensure on-time delivery. Monitor shipments in real time and proactively resolve delays or disruptions. Investigate, document, and resolve shipment discrepancies across lanes and partners. Create, maintain, and publish inbound and outbound dashboards and performance reports. Collaborate with internal teams including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Customer Operations to support shipment flow. Communicate effectively with external partners including suppliers, carriers, customs brokers, and 3PLs. Identify process gaps in logistics and customs activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity across systems related to shipments and customs entries. Support inventory flow and coordination across multiple facilities to keep materials and products moving efficiently. Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shipping, customs, and documentation processes. Prepare and review customs documentation including entry summaries, commercial invoices, and filing packets. Validate HTS classification and declared value for shipments and catch incorrect classifications or values. Review and submit customs entry filings to CBP with a high level of accuracy and compliance. Assist with commercial invoice creation for outbound shipments, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Answer customs broker requests for information and provide timely, clear documentation support. Handle dangerous goods (DG) shipping and ensure proper documentation and compliance for DG shipments. Manage shipment reroutes, recalls, and returns by coordinating with carriers and redirecting packages as needed. Support documentation preparation, labeling, and other behind-the-scenes compliance tasks. Take on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned to support evolving business needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hayward, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
