As a Legal Ops Associate, OC Management on the Legal Operations team, you'll build and run the systems and processes that power Coinbase's outside counsel spend and management program. This team drives operational excellence across the Legal department by leveraging technology, automation, and AI-first workflows to manage vendors, budgets, and e-billing at scale. You'll partner closely with the Sr. Manager, Outside Counsel Spend & Strategy to optimize how Coinbase engages, evaluates, and pays outside counsel, directly impacting cost efficiency and program effectiveness. What you'll do: Build and enhance automated, AI-first processes for legal e-billing and outside counsel management, driving operational excellence across the program. Drive implementation of OC spend strategy, including reviewing and benchmarking law firm billing rates and fee structures against industry standards and peer companies. Own the monthly accruals process and legal vendor onboarding workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in close partnership with FP&A. Administer and maintain the legal e-billing system (Brightflag), serving as the team's resource for system optimization and stakeholder training. Analyze OC spend data to produce reports, scorecards, and actionable insights that inform program improvements and leadership decisions. Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Sourcing, and EAA to enhance program effectiveness and align on budgets, forecasting, and vendor strategy. Own and manage onboarding of law firms
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of outside counsel management experience at an in-house legal practice, preferably at a high-growth technology company. Demonstrated experience managing legal accruals, forecasting inputs, and month-end financial processes in partnership with FP&A. Hands-on experience with legal e-billing platforms (Brightflag or comparable) and proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, including formulas, data manipulation, reconciliation, and building trackers and analyses. Proven ability to project manage operational initiatives from inception to execution, including process design, tool implementation, and vendor onboarding workflows. Experience with data tools ( SQL , Snowflake, Looker, or similar) for building reports and dashboards that drive spend visibility and decision-making. Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. \#

  • Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)). Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $99,365-$116,900 USD
