Job Description

  • Job Title: Production Planner
  • Job Description
  • The Production Planner builds and maintains a reliable production schedule by converting sales forecasts, customer orders, and backlog into detailed work orders.

This role sequences jobs to minimize downtime and changeovers, coordinates closely with operations and other departments, and ensures accurate scheduling data within the ERP system. The Production Planner supports material planning, inventory control, and reporting to keep production running efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Build and maintain a detailed and realistic production schedule that supports customer demand and operational capacity.

+ Convert sales forecasts, customer orders, and backlog into accurate work orders for the manufacturing teams.

+ Sequence production jobs to minimize downtime, changeovers, and disruptions to the schedule.

+ Coordinate closely with operations, inventory, purchasing, and other departments to align production plans with material availability and capacity.

+ Maintain accurate and up-to-date scheduling data in the ERP system, including

SAGE 100.

+ Enter, review, and update production, inventory, and scheduling information in SAGE 100 and related ERP tools.

+ Plan and schedule production downtime and maintenance activities to reduce impact on output and delivery commitments.

+ Monitor inventory levels, support inventory tracking, and coordinate cycle counts to ensure materials are available for planned production.

+ Support materials logistics by aligning material orders and deliveries with the production schedule.

+ Assist with purchasing activities by identifying material requirements and timing based on the production plan.

+ Generate regular reports on production performance, schedule adherence, inventory status, and other key metrics.

+ Partner with operations to resolve scheduling conflicts, address bottlenecks, and adjust plans as needed.

+ Communicate schedule changes and priorities clearly and promptly to all relevant departments.

+ Help maintain schedule stability by proactively identifying risks and adjusting plans to minimize disruptions.

+ Work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple departments and competing priorities.

  • Essential Skills
  • + At least 2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or a related field.

+ Hands-on experience using ERP or MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.

+ Proficiency with

SAGE 100

ERP or similar ERP platforms for scheduling, inventory, and data entry.

+ Strong ability to use Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products for analysis and reporting.

+ Practical knowledge of operations and material flow within a manufacturing setting.

+ Experience in production scheduling and production planning.

+ Experience with inventory management, inventory tracking, and cycle counts.

+ Ability to plan and coordinate materials logistics and purchasing activities based on production needs.

+ Ability to sequence jobs and plan schedules to minimize downtime and changeovers.

+ Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with operations and other departments.

+ Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple departments.

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + APICS or CPIM certification is a plus. + Experience generating production and inventory reports from ERP or other systems. + Experience in supply chain forecasting and schedule planning. + Experience supporting maintenance planning and downtime scheduling. + Direct hire experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.

  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $60000.

00 - $70000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
