Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Supply Manager to lead the supply planning function responsible for balancing demand, supply, and inventory within our chemical manufacturing operations, specifically for our dispersants and amines businesses. This role is critical in ensuring the availability of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods while optimizing inventory levels and supporting production schedules across multiple manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of supply chain processes in chemical or process industries, finite and master production planning with long lead times, hazardous materials, and regulatory requirements as well as S&OP.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute supply plans for raw materials, intermediates, and finished chemical products across multiple manufacturing sites. Align production capabilities and material availability with forecasted demand, considering batch processing, campaign scheduling, and long lead times typical of chemical manufacturing. Collaborate closely with procurement, manufacturing, quality, EH&S, and logistics teams to ensure material flow, compliance, and minimal disruptions. Manage inventory targets to balance service requirements, working capital, and production efficiency, with a focus on MTO (Make to Order) and MTS (Make to Stock) strategies as appropriate. Support and facilitate the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process with a focus on capacity planning, constrained supply scenarios, supply gap resolution, and long-range planning. Monitor and proactively mitigate supply risks, including raw material shortages, supplier constraints, regulatory changes, and safety stock variances. Lead the use of planning tools (JD Edwards, Kinaxis - Maestro) to generate optimized plans and ensure data accuracy.
KPI Tracking & Reporting:
Knowledge of key supply planning performance metrics and ability to monitor and drive improvements to meet team goals. Collaborate with Logistics and Regulatory to understand compliance with chemical safety standards, transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, REACH), and proper handling/storage of hazardous materials in the planning process. Manage and develop a team of supply planners and material planners, ensuring continuous skill development and performance management. Collaboration with the commercial team, demand planning team, and customer service teams to ensure execution of the S&OE and S&OP processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred. 5-8 years of supply planning or production planning experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity, preferably in the chemical or process manufacturing sector. Strong understanding of supply chain principles, MRP, and planning constraints unique to chemical manufacturing (e.g., shelf life, lot traceability, campaign planning). Experience with ERP systems (JDEdwards strongly preferred) and advanced planning tools like Kinaxis - Maestro. Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, REACH, TSCA). APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications are a strong plus.
