Job Description

Materials Planner Summary / Objective The Materials Planner Intern supports the Materials team in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to keep production running smoothly in our Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment. This role works closely with Purchasing, Logistics, Production, and Warehouse teams. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn how material flow, supplier management, and production planning work in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting. This is on‑site at our Dalton, GA Facility Essential Functions Assist in maintaining stable supply of production materials to support daily and weekly build schedules. Help coordinate material delivery schedules between suppliers and internal production planning. Communicate with suppliers to follow up on orders, deliveries, and shortages. Support creation and management of Purchase Requisitions. Execute data entry and material updates in customer portals and the internal MRP system. Help update inventory and planning reports using Excel and MRP tools. Partner with Warehouse and Production teams to understand material flow, storage processes, and best practices. Assist in organizing and conducting material cycle counts. Support investigation and disposition of obsolete or excess materials. Participate in continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen and safety initiatives. Help create and revise standard work or process documentation for material handling. Complete other materials‑related tasks as assigned. Computer Skills:
Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Excel (required), Word, PowerPoint Adobe (basic proficiency) Education & Experience Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in: Supply Chain Management Operations Management Business Administration Industrial Engineering Or a related field Experience in manufacturing or automotive environments is a plus Knowledge of or interest in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems Plastic injection molding exposure is beneficial but not required #MS5
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
