Salary Range:
$75K - $85K We are a rapidly growing, privately-owned leader in the consumer packaged goods industry with products distributed in stores nationwide. We are seeking a Transportation Planner to join our team based out of our manufacturing facility in Montgomery, IL. In this role, you will work closely with supply chain leadership and production teams to plan, coordinate, and optimize daily transportation operations. You will play a vital key in maintaining high service levels, managing logistics costs, ensuring delivery schedules are met, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Position Summary The Transportation Planner supports the Transportation Director in planning, managing, and optimizing daily transportation logistics and special projects to ensure high service performance and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Carrier & Load Management:
Build carrier relationships, select carriers, provide load details, and optimize truck capacity and route planning to ensure on-time delivery.
Scheduling & Support:
Manage web-based delivery scheduling, respond to carrier inquiries, and process accessorial approval requests.
Cost & Claim Control:
Monitor carrier performance to minimize late fees, damage, and loss. Research and evaluate freight claims for approval or denial.
Operations & Systems:
Utilize TMS and AS400 databases to maintain accurate shipping data and track shipments.
Customer Service Collaboration:
Resolve delivery issues and customer service requests promptly.
Process Improvement:
Develop and maintain SOPs, job aids, and tracking reports to continuously improve load planning efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a Transportation Planner, Coordinator, Analyst, or similar role. Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred. Working Conditions Office-based environment with a fast-paced processing site context. Flexibility to adjust working hours as operational needs arise.
