Job Description

The Shipping & Materials Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting all materials-related activities across manufacturing operations, including inventory control, receiving, job material staging, and production support. This role ensures material accuracy, availability, and proper flow to support efficient production schedules and on-time job completion. The Materials Coordinator works closely with Manufacturing, Receiving, Inventory, Purchasing, and Quality to maintain material integrity and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily material flow between receiving, inventory, and production areas. Ensure materials are properly staged and issued to correct jobs. Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records and cycle counts. Support negative issuance and material transfers between jobs as required. Review job material requirements and assist in resolving shortages or discrepancies. Communicate with purchasing and production teams regarding material status. Assist with tracking and correcting incorrect or excess material allocations. Maintain organized storage areas and support 5S initiatives. Assist with shipping/receiving coordination when needed. Create and maintain spreadsheets and tracking documents for material control. Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure material availability aligns with production schedule. Identify and report material issues, shortages, or inconsistencies to management. Support continuous improvement efforts in material handling and inventory accuracy. Perform other duties as assigned by the MFG Manager.
Shared inventory control support:
Ensure cycle counts are performed weekly as directed by the Material Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry, material tracking, and inventory control. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with rapidly changing priorities. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and track multiple details in complex or high-pressure situations. Basic to intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and E1 (ERP system). Ability to create spreadsheets, maintain tracking documents, and write clear work instructions. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across multiple departments. Ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration and supporting a team-focused culture. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to interpret job travelers, BOMs (Bills of Material), and production schedules. Understanding of inventory control principles and material flow processes. Strong analytical ability and attention to detail in identifying and resolving discrepancies. Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma/GED required. Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (M1 or similar) is a plus.

Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
