PM Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Material Planner & Customs Specialist to manage the flow of materials from global suppliers to our Louisville operation. This unique role combines material planning, customs compliance, inbound logistics, and transportation management, making it ideal for professionals with experience in manufacturing, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or supply chain operations. In this position, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials arrive on time, customs requirements are met, and production schedules remain uninterrupted. Automotive or industrial manufacturing experience. Knowledge of FCA and EXW Incoterms. Experience supporting JIT/JIS production environments. Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and import processes. Experience coordinating cross-border shipments between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Responsibilities:

Material Planning & Supply Management:

Analyze customer demand forecasts and convert requirements into purchase orders through ERP systems. Manage supplier orders, acknowledgments, and delivery schedules. Monitor inventory levels and support Just-In-Time (JIT) production requirements. Communicate supply status and potential risks to internal stakeholders. Manage supplier invoicing and payment processes. Supplier Coordination & International Logistics Coordinate inbound shipments from domestic and international suppliers. Arrange FCA and EXW pickups and communicate directly with suppliers regarding shipment readiness. Track shipment progress and resolve transportation delays.

Customs & Trade Compliance:

Partner with freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure timely clearance of imported goods. Review commercial invoices, packing lists, tariff classifications, and import documentation. Monitor customs clearance status and address documentation issues proactively. Maintain accurate customs and duty payment records. Transportation Management Coordinate domestic transportation from ports, airports, and distribution points to the manufacturing facility. Arrange transportation throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Support milk-run pickups and inbound freight consolidation. Manage carrier performance, delivery schedules, and freight claims as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in at least one of the following: Material Planning within a manufacturing environment Customs Compliance, Import/Export Operations, Freight Forwarding, or Customs Brokerage Transportation Management and Carrier Coordination Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
