Job Summary We are seeking a motivated, results-driven Steel Salesperson to join our team. In this role, you will actively develop new business opportunities, manage key customer accounts, and close sales within the steel and industrial metals sector. Your expertise in technical sales and client relationship management will drive growth and ensure customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Fills materials orders as specified on TIS material schedules: Pulls materials from on-hand inventory, if available. Orders materials as required from suppliers. Submits orders for cutting and forming to Warehouse. Contacts appropriate person when order is ready for pick up Fills materials orders as specified by direct customers (submitted over the counter, by phone or fax, via email or the website): Tracks down order on work-order-form, prices order, and submits accurate invoice to A/R. Verifies customer's credit worthiness. Assists customers with simple design and drafting, either in person or through TIS's Drafting or Engineering Department (billing design time to customer's project). Pulls materials from on-hand inventory, if available. Orders materials as required from suppliers. Submits orders for cutting and forming to Warehouse, Machine Shop, Fabrication Shop, etc. Sends orders to Shipping Department. Contacts customer when order is ready Uses company software system/internet to research materials orders, enter and review data, communicate with Customers when appropriate. Sells directly to over-the-counter customers and expedites orders. Tracks inventory costs. Responsible for abiding by State and Federal Safety regulations and company safety policies & procedures as they apply to this job. Attends safety training as required. Education & Experience Requirements
- Two-year college or university program certificate; two to four years related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic mild steel welding experience
- Experience (or willingness to learn) operating fabrication equipment such as a bandsaw, shear, small press brake, plate rolls, or profile roller
- Ability to read a tape measure
