is a Tier 1 automotive supplier with headquarters in Rochester Hills, MI. Overview We are seeking a hands-on Supply Chain & Materials Specialist to support purchasing, inventory management, production planning, and supplier coordination within a manufacturing environment utilizing Plex. This role will be on the purchasing team responsible for maintaining material availability, troubleshooting shortages, supporting new product launches, and assisting with supplier sourcing and quoting activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working across Purchasing, Production, Inventory Control, Customer Service, and Supplier Management functions. Key Responsibilities Quoting & New Business Support Request and evaluate supplier quotations. Support cost analysis and quotation preparation for new business opportunities. Source materials and components for new customer programs. Support new business launch with supplier PPAP and IMDS Materials Planning & MRP Review and act on MRP recommendations to ensure uninterrupted production. Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, lead times, and supplier performance. Investigate and resolve material shortages and inventory discrepancies. Coordinate with production teams to prioritize critical materials and expedite orders when necessary. Issue purchase orders and manage supplier communications. Track supplier deliveries and follow up on late or incomplete shipments. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships. Support supplier performance improvement initiatives. Identify alternative suppliers when supply chain disruptions occur. Inventory & Shortage Management Troubleshoot missing, delayed, or incorrectly received components. Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions. Coordinate cycle count and inventory accuracy activities. Analyze recurring shortage issues and recommend process improvements. Qualifications Required 2+ years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, materials planning, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment. Experience using Plex Experience sourcing materials and obtaining supplier quotations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business reporting tools. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Experience in automotive manufacturing or a Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier environment. Success in This Role The successful candidate will: Maintain material availability and minimize production interruptions. Quickly identify and resolve shortages and missing components. Improve inventory accuracy and supplier performance. Support profitable quoting and sourcing activities.
