Job Title:
Logistics Coordinator Job Description The logistics coordinator manages the efficient loading and unloading of trucks while ensuring all documentation complies with corporate, customer, and governmental requirements. This role focuses on accurate dispatching, detailed paperwork preparation, and professional communication with drivers, logistics partners, and internal teams. The logistics coordinator plays a key role in coordinating product movements, maintaining organized records, and supporting safe and compliant handling of materials. Responsibilities Manage truck loading and unloading activities in an efficient and timely manner. Ensure all paperwork, including bills of lading and related documents, meets corporate, customer, and governmental requirements. Dispatch trucks by issuing appropriate placards, seals, labels, material safety data sheets, and any other documentation required to comply with DOT hazardous material regulations and security procedures. Provide clear loading and unloading instructions to drivers and scale customers while applying sound judgment and adhering to standard operating procedures. Communicate effectively with operations and administrative personnel to coordinate and expedite product movements. Interact professionally with truck drivers, their dispatchers, and customers to support smooth logistics operations. Coordinate with laboratory and lab services teams regarding product analysis and specifications to ensure accurate and compliant shipments. Write, type, and enter information into multiple computer databases to prepare loading instructions, bills of lading, and other required documents. Check and proofread customer orders and computer-generated data reports for accuracy and completeness. Sort, file, and maintain various records and filing systems, including customer orders, correspondence, and permits, in a neat and accurate manner. Operate the dispatch phone switchboard to support truck drivers making deliveries and respond to inquiries promptly. Follow standard operating procedures and maintain a high level of attention to detail in all dispatch and documentation activities. Essential Skills Experience in logistics coordination for shipments. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, dispatchers, and customers. Ability to work variable shifts with a full commitment to schedule requirements. Reliable transportation to and from the worksite. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, worksheets, and data entry. Accurate and efficient data entry skills across multiple computer databases. High attention to detail when checking and proofreading customer orders and reports. Ability to follow and apply standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements, including DOT hazardous material regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with operations, administrative staff, and laboratory services. Interviews are happening this week! Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carteret, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
