Opportunity:
We're seeking a Downstream Planner to join a dynamic manufacturing and supply chain operation in El Paso, TX . This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented supply chain professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, solving material challenges, and keeping production moving. In this role, you'll play a critical part in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time while balancing inventory levels, supplier performance, production requirements, and MRP planning.
What You'll Do:
Monitor and resolve daily MRP exception messages , including past-due, expedite, push-out, and cancellation requirements. Manage the flow of materials between suppliers and the plant to ensure uninterrupted production. Maintain material availability while meeting days-of-inventory targets . Expedite purchase orders and provide suppliers with priorities during critical shortages. Conduct monthly reviews of vendor forecasts and open-order reports. Update SAP purchase-order due dates and maintain accurate planning information. Review and adjust MRP planning parameters, including safety stock, minimum lot sizes, rounding values, pallet quantities, lead times, and lot-sizing procedures. Conduct quarterly reviews of replenishment strategies such as Kanban, ROP, and MRP . Partner closely with MPS Planners and Production Schedulers to align material availability with production needs.
Downstream Flow Controller Responsibilities:
Follow up on SAP planning-order exceptions, including past-due, expedite, push-out, and cancellation requirements. Support finished-goods production scheduling . Publish the daily production plan. Track production-order status and identify barriers to execution. Work with kitting teams to identify and resolve material issues. Review SAP to ensure planned orders are converted to production orders. Evaluate missing parts identified during release simulations and determine whether production can proceed. Create missing-parts reports and coordinate with the Upstream team on estimated material arrival times. Release orders and prepare them for production by assembly. Support Production Schedule Attainment and overall production performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business , or a related field. Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) , ERP systems, production scheduling, and inventory management. SAP experience is highly desirable. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Solid understanding of materials management methodologies. Ability to think on your feet and quickly resolve issues. Comfortable providing direction across multiple teams and resolving conflicts. Strong continuous-improvement mindset.
