We manage a complex logistics network that includes an asset-based fleet and a robust non-asset brokerage division. We are seeking a Safety Professional to oversee the safety and compliance of our open-deck operation, ensuring that our drivers and carrier partners meet the highest standards of the FMCSA and the Department of Defense. The Role This position is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of safety programs across both our asset and non-asset (brokerage) business units. You will be the technical expert for all things safety—from load securement for heavy machinery to vetting third-party carriers. Crucially, you will lead the "Driver Life Cycle," ensuring that safety begins with a seamless onboarding experience and is sustained through high-impact retention and driver recognition initiatives. Requirements:
Key Responsibilities Integrated Safety Management:
Develop and maintain comprehensive safety manuals and SOPs that cover both our company-owned assets and our non-asset carrier vetting processes.
Strategic Onboarding:
Design and facilitate a world-class safety orientation program for new open-deck drivers. Ensure all new hires are seamlessly integrated into Adcock's safety culture from day one.
Retention & Recognition:
Develop and manage driver incentive programs that reward safe driving behaviors. Use telematics data to power "Driver of the Month" programs and safety bonus structures that improve driver satisfaction and reduce turnover.
Asset Fleet Compliance:
Manage all FMCSA requirements for our open-deck drivers, including Hours of Service (HOS), Driver Qualification (DQ) files, and Vehicle Maintenance logs.
Non-Asset Risk Mitigation:
Oversight of carrier compliance monitoring, ensuring all third-party partners meet Adcock's safety ratings and insurance requirements.
DoD & Specialized Freight:
Lead the safety protocols required for Department of Defense shipments, ensuring all security and specialized handling requirements are strictly met.
Open-Deck Expertise:
Direct training programs focused specifically on the North American Cargo Securement Standards for flatbed, step-deck, and specialized open-deck equipment. Technology & Technical Requirements Learning Management System (LMS): Direct experience utilizing an LMS (e.g., Luma, Infinit-I, CarriersEdge) to deploy, track, and document safety training and monthly safety meetings.
ELD & Telematics Mastery:
Proficiency in managing ELD data and leveraging telematics platforms (e.g., Samsara, Motive) to monitor behavior and power recognition programs based on safety scores.
Safety Software:
Experience using Safety Management Systems (SMS) to track training, accident reports, and DQ file compliance.
Data Analysis:
Ability to interpret telematics and LMS engagement data to identify trends and build proactive safety intervention programs.
Qualifications & Requirements Certification:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS) designation required .
Driver Engagement Focus:
Proven experience in driver retention strategies and the successful implementation of safety-based recognition programs .
Hybrid Safety Experience:
Proven track record in developing safety programs for both asset-based fleets and non-asset/brokerage environments.
Open-Deck Knowledge:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in transportation safety with a focus on open-deck cargo (load securement, over-dimensional permits, and DoD freight).
Regulatory Mastery:
Expert-level knowledge of FMCSA regulations and the ability to navigate DOT audits and Defense Travel Regulations (DTR).
