Job Description

The Direct & Special PO Planner is responsible for coordinating and supporting the purchase of inventory, materials, and supplies based on demand for sales orders and production orders. Primary job functions require exercising independent judgement when making purchasing decisions based on price and availability. Reports to the Sales Order Demand Planning Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Develop, generate, and input purchase orders utilizing the companys business system softwareReview purchase orders for accuracyReview auto-demand and manual-demand reports to ensure POs for all direct and special requirements are processed promptly and accuratelyUse critical thinking to determine optimal PO type to meet customer required date and maximize bottom line salesOversee post PO processes (i.e. acknowledgements, expediting, disputed vouchers) from start to finishSelecting the best value supplier for items with no pre-selected supplierEffectively utilize Special Pricing Agreements (SPA) and supplier purchase programsConfer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery scheduleMaintain a positive and consistent collaborative dialogue with the Inside Sales Team to meet customer expectationsPerform other related duties as assigned by
Management Requirements:
High school diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) required. Some secondary education or equivalent work experience is a plusMust possess a minimum of 2 years Inside Sales or Customer Service experienceMust possess working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and proceduresMust possess knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and proceduresMust be able to interpret instructions from multiple co-workersWorking knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and OutlookThe ideal candidate must have precise attention to detail and focusStrong communication, organization, and time management skillsFamiliarity with Airlines distributed parts preferred
