3801 Position type Powering Delivery Excellence Through Strategic Transportation Coordination! MEPPI's Switchgear Division (SWGD) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Coordinator to manage inbound and outbound logistics and ensure customer delivery commitments are met. In this role, you will coordinate transportation activities, optimize freight performance and cost, and work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and carriers to support efficient and reliable supply chain operations. This position will be located in Warrendale, PA until the new facility opens in New Galilee, PA. Upon opening of the Advanced Switchgear Facility, this position will be based at 1000 Electric Avenue, New Galilee, PA 16141.
What You'll Do Coordinate Outbound Shipments:
Manage transportation for products and parts orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to customers and designated storage locations.
Optimize Inbound Logistics:
Analyze transportation costs and delivery performance; develop and implement action plans to improve efficiency and reduce costs associated with inbound freight.
Procure Transportation Services:
Select and coordinate transportation providers for both domestic and international shipments, including working with freight forwarders, packagers, and logistics partners.
Handle Expedited & Emergency Shipments:
Arrange transportation for urgent customer needs and expedite critical inbound deliveries.
Maintain Transportation Data & Systems:
Utilize business systems to input, update, and track transportation data and generate reporting as needed.
Align Production & Shipping Schedules:
Create and update transportation schedules; collaborate with Production Coordinators to ensure alignment with manufacturing timelines.
Resolve Shipping Issues:
Investigate delays and recommend corrective actions related to scheduling conflicts or transportation availability.
Manage Shipping Documentation:
Update shipping due dates on customer orders, prepare and provide shipping documentation, and ensure all requirements are completed accurately.
Ensure Capacity Availability:
Monitor transportation capacity to support inbound and outbound shipping demands.
Evaluate Supplier Performance:
Assess freight forwarders and transportation providers based on cost, service, and reliability metrics.
Track & Report Performance Metrics:
Produce weekly and monthly performance reports to monitor logistics effectiveness.
Support Continuous Improvement:
Recommend improvements to company policies, procedures, and transportation processes.
Assist Leadership:
Support and assist the Manufacturing Manager as needed.
Promote Division Excellence:
Further SWGD's goals through professional and timely collaboration with internal departments, customers, and external partners.
Champion Safety & Compliance:
Maintain knowledge of MEPPI's Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies and ensure adherence in all activities.
What You Bring Education & Experience:
Associate's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting production operations or logistics functions Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
Training or experience in transportation regulations, including import/export logistics Familiarity with freight forwarding, logistics operations, and supply chain coordination
Skills & Attributes:
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing demands Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and external partners
Technology Proficiency:
Advanced computer skills with MS Office Experience with MRP/ERP systems and business reporting tools Physical & Work Requirements Ability to use standard office equipment (PC, copier, etc.) Ability to communicate effectively with others to complete work Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions What's in It for You?
