Job Description
The role of Logistics Clerk provides administrative and clerical support within the Shipping Department to achieve effective and efficient packaging and shipping processes for carbon black manufacturing. The Logistics Clerk maintains accurate records, produces key reports and communicates with all related functional departments at the local plant. Essential Functions • Perform general office related tasks including but not limited to the following: Greeting visitors and guests Answering, transferring or taking messages for all incoming phone calls Create regular and ad hoc reports for the Shipping Department File documents to maintain production records Maintain shipping inventory log Produce shipping confirmations daily Generate shipping paperwork for all daily shipments Communicate with onsite lab personnel to obtain product quality approval Forwards shipping confirmations to customers and ensure appropriate placards are affixed to shipments Produce, review and distribute shipping schedules and instructions • Validate and log all car weights from the railroad and communicate information directly to the customer and corporate Create copies of production (railcar and truck) shipments for local and corporate office tracking Review, validate and process bills of laden (BOL) for all incoming and outgoing shipments Transmit load ahead cars Other duties as needed by the Shipping Department or as assigned by supervisor Required Education and Experience High School Diploma/Equivalent Excellent verbal and written communication skills 1-2 years direct experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, etc Minimum of 2 years computer based inventory control software control experience This position involves safety-sensitive job duties.
