PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provides training and supervision to bus drivers, teachers, and coaches that will be employed by Judson ISD, assists the administration with certified bus drivers when needed and advises about placement of bus drivers
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements High School Diploma or GED preferred Must be 21 years of age or older Valid Texas Class "B" or "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements for school bus driver (persons hired with class "C" driver's license must obtain the class "B" CDL license with endorsements within 90 days of employment). Safe driving record as verified by Texas Department of Public Safety (meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility) Certification as Texas Bus Driver by the Texas Education Agency (requirement satisfied by successful completion of 20 hours Texas Department of Public Safety course) Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check Knowledge and Skills Ability to operate bus as well as possess acceptable driving record Outstanding knowledge of all requirements needed to be a good bus driver Excellent knowledge of bus capabilities and routine maintenance procedures Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to pass alcohol and drug test Ability to complete required bus driver safety training Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Knowledge of student discipline procedures and ability to manage student behavior Experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a bus driver, preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Special Needs Liaison Manage/Coordinate Bus Video Reviews Manage/Coordinate Driver/Bus Assistant Evaluation Program Assist Training Supervisor in all facets of training responsibilities Act as Training Supervisor during absence of Training Supervisor Investigating and Evaluating hazardous walk areas Manage/Coordinate Bus Evacuation Drills Conducts training updates and instructions on new equipment, changes in rules and regulations, etc Retrains existing drivers when needed Updates driver training material as needed Conducts bus safety, discipline and emergency procedures at district campuses Observes drivers as needed Substitutes on routes when needed by the dispatcher Attends Texas A&M Training Sessions and follow-up sessions as needed Drive a school bus with or without students on board Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
