Job Description

Garrett Metal Detectors, a world-wide leader in the manufacture of metal detecting equipment is looking to hire an experienced Logistics Specialist with international logistics experience. This is an on-site position located in our Garland, TX location. Essential Functions Prepare documentation, which may include dock receipts, bills of lading, Shipper's Letter of Instructions (SLI), export declarations, invoices, packing lists, and shipping labels Files Shippers Export Declarations (SEDs) Documents, reviews, and assessments for accuracy, verifications on country of origin/export, Importer of Record (IOR), and Incoterms, to ensure compliance and federal regulation requirements are achieved Provides disposition of freight (i.e., tracking, tracing, routing, dispatching, rate quotations) Maintains daily follow-ups on documentation discrepancy issues Works collaboratively with all departments to resolve issues related to package deliveries or shipments Maintains records of import documents and monitors compliance with export documentation retention Follows up with Import Pre-advice from foreign suppliers and forwarders Monitors import shipment utilization to reduce freight cost Follows up with the warehouse on international order sheets, picked, packed, and shipped Follows up with
LTL, FTL
truck load shipment for all domestic moves Works with local Chambers of Commerce and the Chamber certification process Monitors and ensures compliance with orders that fall under the US, Canada, and Mexico Free Trade Agreements (FTA) Ensure all operations adhere to laws, guidelines, and ISO requirements Complies with safety policies, practices, and procedures. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of two years' international logistics and import/export experience required
Special Skills & Qualifications:
Proficient with an ERP/MRP or other relevant software Knowledge of international export/import and logistics Hazmat certified or ability to become certified in a short timeframe Working knowledge of FedEx, UPS, and DHL for small packages, quotes, shipping, and processing Must have excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Collaborative work style and ability to work in a team to achieve goals Proficient with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines Work Environment Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor production setting with adequate ventilation and moderate noise May work with or near moving mechanical equipment Physical Demands Minimal physical activity, performing non-strenuous daily activities of an office/clerical nature, and working from a sitting or standing position. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch Must be able to sit for long periods Must be able to lift up to ten pounds, with or without assistance Every effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible.
