Assists with project planning and oversight and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.

Essential Duties:

Performs complex field reviews of constructions projects to assist area engineers and project engineers in resolution of construction problems. Coordinates and performs interim and final inspections to identify deficiencies. Inspects construction methods, workmanship and maintenance procedures to ensure contractors build, install, maintain and repair traffic control/data collection related equipment or facilities in accordance with plans, specification and contract requirements. Reviews and revises Plans, Specifications & Estimates and project designs for traffic control devices, signals, signs, markings, detours, traffic control plans, roadway illumination, traffic management systems or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Reviews environmental documents. Trains and makes training-related recommendations to staff on new operations. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
