Job Description
Description Plant Scheduler - Prepared Foods Position Summary The Plant Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring production schedules to ensure customer orders are completed on time while maximizing plant efficiency and productivity. This position works closely with Production, Materials Planning, Maintenance, Customer Service, Sales, and Inventory teams to manage workflow, raw material availability, and production priorities. The Plant Scheduler plays a critical role in maintaining inventory levels, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall operational success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitor backlog of work within assigned production areas and prioritize schedules accordingly. Sequence production orders to meet customer promise dates while optimizing plant productivity and operational efficiency. Revise debone and portion schedules as needed to accommodate further processing orders, rework requirements, equipment breakdowns, and other operational changes. Monitor material supply levels and proactively communicate potential shortages to appropriate departments. Develop, maintain, and monitor master production schedules in coordination with Materials Planning, Production, and Maintenance teams. Coordinate scheduling activities to ensure efficient utilization of labor, equipment, and raw materials. Communicate schedule status, production changes, and updates to Customer Service and Sales teams as needed. Monitor raw meat inventories to ensure minimum aged product requirements and inventory levels are maintained. Analyze production and inventory data to support scheduling decisions and improve operational performance. Assist with identifying scheduling conflicts and implement solutions to minimize disruptions. Provide backup support for the Finished Product Scheduler during absences. Maintain accurate scheduling records and reports within company systems. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy. Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, preferred Previous planning, scheduling, or production coordination experience. Experience in poultry processing, food manufacturing, or related production environments. Understanding of production planning, inventory management, and supply chain concepts. Why Work for Pilgrim's?
