North Salt Lake, UT Job Details Full-time From $50,000 a year 6 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Inventory management systems Mechanical blueprint interpretation Standard costing Microsoft Excel Financial model development MRP Certified Supply Chain Professional Parts drawings Supply Chain Management Excel data analysis Full Job Description Companion Systems builds branding for financial institutions and their deployment partners, out of plants in Utah and Ohio. We're hiring a Materials Planner to own the cost side of how work gets sourced and scheduled. You'll decide — with data — what we make versus buy, which of our two plants should run a program, and which vendors should get the outside work. It's an analytical seat with real influence, not order entry. What you'll do Build landed-cost comparisons between our Utah and Ohio plants; labor, capacity, material, finishing, and freight to the install region, and recommend where each program runs. Run make-buy analysis on fabricated metal, illuminated faces, graphics, and sub-assemblies. Source and compare vendors for powder coat, laser and waterjet, extrusion, printing, LED and electrical components, and contract fabrication. Plan material and purchase suggestions in Epicor Kinetic across both sites, protecting branch launch dates on long-lead items.
Keep planning data honest:
lead times, safety stock, standard costs, and BOM cost rolls. Report on what we quoted versus what we spent, and why. What we're looking for 3-7 years in materials planning, buyer/planner, cost analysis, or estimating in a make-to-order manufacturing environment. Strong cost modeling skills and advanced Excel.
Solid grasp of ERP/MRP planning:
BOMs, routings, standard costing, purchase suggestions. Ability to read drawings and understand what actually drives cost on the floor. Nice to have Degree in supply chain, business, or engineering, or equivalent experience. Sheet metal fabrication, signage, or other high-mix / low-volume manufacturing. Multi-plant planning and inter-site sourcing. Epicor Kinetic; LTL freight cost structures; APICS CPIM or CSCP. Why this role Two plants, a wide product mix, and customer programs with fixed install dates — the sourcing and allocation decisions here have visible dollar impact, and you'll be the one making the case for them. You'll report directly to the VP of Supply Chain Management.
