Material Logistics CoordinatorJOB SUMMARY
The Material Logistics Technician supports the daily execution of shipping, receiving, and material storage operations for our Provo, UT office. Working closely with the Material Logistics Coordinator, this role ensures that client materials are accurately received, inventoried, and securely staged for shipment to library customers worldwide. The Technician is responsible for following precise instructions regarding the handling of unique library materials, ensuring that all client-specific requirements and workflows are strictly maintained. This position requires exceptional organization, high attention to detail, and the flexibility to pivot between tasks as priorities shift. While the Coordinator oversees the department's overall strategy and management, the Technician provides critical continuity and may serve as the primary point of contact for departmental duties in the Coordinator's absence. Additionally, to support total office efficiency during fluctuations in workload, the Technician will assist the Metadata and Shelf-Ready Services departments with production tasks, including data entry and the physical processing of library materials.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform the hands-on receiving, inventorying, and tracking of incoming and outgoing client materials to ensure real-time data accuracy. Strictly follow established shipping workflows to meet deadlines and adhere to detailed, client-specific handling requirements. Assist the Coordinator in organizing and maintaining a clean, efficient storage environment for client materials. Drive a company-provided vehicle for occasional in-person pickups and deliveries at client institutions; perform local errands to support departmental needs. Ensure all outgoing shipments are packed securely according to protocol to prevent damage to sensitive library materials. Provide operational support for project-based tasks, including book scanning, data entry, and physical material processing as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).Physical Ability:
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day and stand for extended periods.Detail Orientation:
Meticulous attention to detail, specifically regarding inventory accuracy and following complex, multi-step instructions.Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data entry and basic sorting) and a general comfort level learning new inventory management software.Operational Aptitude:
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under deadlines and maintain focus while performing repetitive tasks with high accuracy.Driving & Compliance :
Must hold a valid, unrestricted driver's license and maintain a clean driving record to operate company vehicles for pickups and deliveries.Professionalism:
Must be punctual, highly dependable, and possess the interpersonal skills to work harmoniously within a team-oriented environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Shipping Software Proficiency:
Experience using UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, or similar professional logistics and shipping platforms.Specialized Material Handling:
Prior experience handling fragile cultural heritage materials, such as rare books, manuscripts, or archival documents.Library Standards:
Familiarity with basic library metadata and cataloging terminology (e.g., MARC, RDA) or experience working in a library/archival environment.Warehouse or Stockroom Experience:
Familiarity with organized storage systems, shelving protocols, or inventory counting.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
