Job Description
Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.
This role is part of our Tactical Missiles and Integrated Defense Systems business, which designs and develops integrated missile and defense systems that support critical missions across air, land, and sea. We combine comprehensive analysis, engineering, and program execution capabilities to deliver mission-tailored solutions that reduce lead times, lower costs, and simplify complex multi-vendor supply chains. Backed by decades of flight-proven and fielded performance, we design and build mission-critical technologies including launch systems, propulsion, payload integration solutions, UAV components, missile subsystems, and Safe & Arm systems.
The Material Planner ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and customer requirements. The role analyzes demand, monitors inventory, manages ERPgenerated material requirements, and collaborates closely with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and suppliers to maintain continuity of supply and support ontime delivery performance.
ScheduleThis shift follows a 1st shift schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (every other Friday off)Responsibilities Reviews and analyzes Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system material requirements and planning suggestions. Monitors inventory levels, demand, and supply to ensure materials are available for production and development schedules. Identifies material shortages, excess inventory, and potential supply risks. Requests and obtains supplier quotations for new and existing materials. Maintains accurate planning parameters, lead times, and material data within the ERP system. Works closely with Production, Scheduling, and Program Management to prioritize material requirements. Monitors open demand and recommends actions to mitigate potential shortages or delays. Generates and maintains reports related to material availability, shortages, and planning performance.
Required Qualifications High school diploma. Experience in material planning, production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations. Strong analytical and problemsolving skills. Ability to interpret bills of material, methods, and production schedules. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools. Strong communication and organizational skills. A current U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Preferred Qualifications Associates degree in a related discipline. Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Three or more years of experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, preferably Epicor.
