Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Packaging Engineer to support equipment evaluation, warehouse operations, and hazardous materials compliance. This role focuses on improving operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting packaging and logistics processes across domestic and international operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate equipment features and provide written justifications to determine the most cost-effective solutions. Coordinate property control activities and manage equipment calibration cycles through metrology departments to maintain accuracy. Support equipment procurement by researching material handling requirements and evaluating supplier quotations. Prepare and manage equipment budgets, billing processes, and cost justifications. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in global distribution, storage, and packaging operations. Perform logistics support analysis in compliance with company policies and domestic/international regulations. Develop warehouse material flow strategies, equipment layouts, and capital budgets for efficient storage operations. Analyze storage capacity requirements, including volume calculations and selection of appropriate handling equipment. Promote employee awareness of hazardous materials regulations through training and compliance support. Oversee implementation and compliance of Hazardous Materials Security Plans (HM-232) for receiving, storing, and shipping dangerous goods. Classify hazardous materials and develop compliant packaging, labeling, marking, and documentation for shipments.
Required Skills:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Proficiency in using multiple systems and software tools for data analysis and contract review Experience in industrial packaging (Aerospace or Automotive industry preferred) Strong understanding of warehouse operations Solid decision-making and problem-solving skills
Education:
Some college coursework or a bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related discipline)
