Job DescriptionThe Advanced Microscopy team at EAG Laboratories is seeking a Materials Analyst to join our Dual Beam (SEM‑FIB) group in Sunnyvale, CA. This is a hands‑on, production‑focused role centered on TEM lamella preparation using Dual Beam FIB tools, supporting advanced materials and semiconductor analysis for clients across multiple industries.
The successful candidate will be a strong technical contributor who thrives in a fast‑paced lab environment, enjoys focused tool time, and values producing high‑quality, site‑specific results within defined client timelines.
What You'll DoA typical day in this role includes:
Preparing high‑quality, site‑specific TEM lamella using Dual Beam FIB‑SEM systems on novel materials and advanced semiconductor devicesPerforming SEM imaging to support sample navigation, preparation, and quality verificationManaging multiple client samples, ensuring adherence to internal quality standards and turnaround commitmentsWorking closely with your team to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and maintain consistent outputCollaborating with internal analytical teams and, as needed, clients to understand analysis requirements and standardized proceduresThis role is well‑suited for analysts who prefer focused tool time, hands‑on execution, and technical problem‑solving in a collaborative lab setting.
B.S. or M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands‑on industry experienceHands‑on experience operating Dual Beam FIB‑SEM systems, OR strong academic / early‑industry exposure with demonstrated capability to independently execute sample preparation workflowsWorking knowledge of electron microscopy principles (SEM/TEM)General understanding of semiconductor device physics and failure analysis concepts gained through coursework, lab work, or prior industry experienceStrong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven lab environment What Would Set You ApartDemonstrated expertise in TEM lamella preparation, including lift‑out and site‑specific techniquesAdvanced SEM imaging experiencePrior experience supporting high‑throughput or production laboratory environmentsClear, timely technical communication with internal teams and external clientsWhy This RoleExtensive, uninterrupted hands‑on tool timeExposure to a wide range of advanced materials and semiconductor technologiesA collaborative team culture focused on technical excellence and continuous improvementEvening shift structure that supports deep focus and accelerated technical masteryWe encourage you to apply even if your experience is not a 100% match with the position. Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time. Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
