Job Description

The Materials Coordinator is responsible for coordinating purchasing, inventory management, and shipping & receiving activities to ensure the efficient flow of materials and products throughout the organization. This role works closely with suppliers, shipper/receivers, and production to maintain optimal inventory levels, support operational requirements, and ensure timely delivery of goods while controlling costs. Key Responsibilities Purchasing Source and procure materials, supplies, and services based on operational requirements. Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies. Monitor supplier performance, including pricing, quality, and delivery timelines. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing, lead times, and service agreements when appropriate. Resolve purchasing discrepancies, invoice issues, and supplier-related concerns. Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and budget requirements. Inventory Management Monitor inventory levels to maintain adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory. Coordinate inventory replenishment based on demand forecasts and production schedules and maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP. Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) system to track inventory levels and update stock records. Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Shipping & Receiving Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, suppliers, and customers. Schedule deliveries and monitor transportation activities to ensure on-time performance. Unload, unpack, and organize products in the warehouse using lift truck when required. Pick and pack parts orders accurately and efficiently using a lift truck when required. Prepare shipping documentation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Track shipments and proactively resolve transportation delays or issues. Qualifications Experience 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, logistics, or supply chain coordination. Experience using ERP or inventory management systems. Experience with Visual Manufacturing/Infor would be an asset. Experience working with suppliers, freight carriers, and warehouse operations. Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Effective negotiation and vendor management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of inventory control principles and purchasing practices. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with ERP systems.
Pay:
$24.00 - $27.00 per hour
