Lakeside Foods is seeking a Materials Supervisor to perform day‑to‑day materials coordination while providing work direction to the Materials team. This role coordinates workflow, trains team members on standard processes, ensures task completion and data accuracy, and resolves routine issues within established guidelines. The Materials Supervisor supports packaging procurement, inventory accuracy, version control, and design transition activities across labeling and packaging facilities, escalating complex or high‑impact issues to leadership as needed.

Team Leadership & Development Provide day‑to‑day work direction to Materials Coordinators, including task assignment, priority management, and progress monitoring
Deliver on‑the‑job training and serve as the first point of contact for routine questions related to processes, systems, and standards
Provide input to leadership on performance evaluations, development planning, and recognition
Maintain standard work instructions and quick‑reference guides for the team Materials Coordination & Inventory Management Perform materials coordination activities alongside the team, including replenishment review, purchase order follow‑up, shortage checks, and data updates
Verify packaging inventory levels using system signals and exception reports to support production needs
Monitor and communicate daily material shortages; coordinate corrective actions and escalate risks as appropriate
Recommend disposition of rejected, aged, or obsolete packaging within established guidelines Purchasing & Supplier Management Create and manage purchase orders within defined authority limits; verify pricing, quantities, and delivery dates
Follow up with suppliers to ensure on‑time delivery and communicate changes to internal stakeholders
Resolve routine receiving or invoice discrepancies and escalate recurring or high‑impact issues Quality, Compliance & Packaging Governance Maintain packaging version control documentation and support timely design transitions
Support the Label Approval Process in collaboration with Quality, verifying artwork accuracy and regulatory elements
Route exceptions and non‑standard issues to leadership for resolution Reporting & Continuous Improvement Prepare routine reports and dashboards highlighting exceptions and recommended corrective actions
Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation and training once approved What You'll Bring
Education & Experience Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field required; bachelor's degree preferred
2+ years of experience in materials, inventory management, or procurement
Prior experience guiding peers or serving in a lead role preferred
Experience in packaging or labeling environments and collaboration with Quality is a plus Skills & Abilities Proficiency with
SAP / S/4HANA
(MM/PP), Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Adobe for artwork review Working knowledge of planning parameters, safety stock concepts, and inventory control methods Ability to prepare, interpret, and act on standard reports and dashboards Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to provide clear task direction and training Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and dependable with strong follow‑through Ability to balance individual workload while coordinating team activities Exercises sound judgment within established guidelines and escalates appropriately Why Lakeside Foods Founded in 1887, Lakeside Foods is a family‑owned company with a long history of quality, integrity, and operational excellence.
