From deep-trench utilities and mass earthwork to mine-site development, our civil operations are foundational to Meridian's continued growth. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to lead field operations from preparatory planning through final site closeout. Direct mine-site experience is strongly preferred. The Leader We're Looking For A highly organized field leader who plans ahead, understands preparatory requirements, and ensures crews, equipment, materials, submittals, inspections, and documentation are ready before work begins. An exceptional people leader who sets clear expectations, follows up consistently, and holds team members accountable while coaching, developing, and treating people with respect. A collaborative communicator who builds trust with internal leadership, project teams, inspectors, subcontractors, and mine-based owners. A hands-on problem-solver who can lead a project through safe execution, turnover, punch-list completion, demobilization, documentation, and final closeout. What You'll Own Lead daily field operations for earthwork, pipe, utility, and mine-infrastructure crews, with full ownership of safety, quality, production, schedule, and team performance. Provide input on detailed three-week look-ahead schedules; coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, survey, subcontractors, access, and inspections. Lead preparatory planning before each phase of work, including review of plans, specifications, work plans, constraints, hold points, permits, QA/QC requirements, and owner expectations. Partner with Project Management and leadership to support accurate, timely submittals, preparatory meetings, testing, inspections, turnover packages, and resolution of deficiencies. Interpret plans, specifications, survey data, and production targets to achieve on-time, in-tolerance completion while identifying conflicts and schedule risks early. Supervise, mentor, and develop foremen, operators, and laborers; establish clear expectations and reinforce accountability through timely, respectful follow-up. Monitor excavation, trench, traffic, pipe, and mine-site safety requirements, including OSHA, MSHA, trench protection, and fall prevention. Manage subcontractors and multiple concurrent field activities, ensuring every party is aligned with the plan, schedule, safety expectations, and quality standards. Lead daily safety and production huddles; track quantities and field metrics; communicate progress, constraints, and recovery actions clearly. Represent Meridian professionally in meetings and field coordination with owners, mine representatives, engineers, inspectors, and internal leaders. Lead orderly job-site closeout, including punch-list completion, final inspections, as-builts and supporting documentation, material and equipment reconciliation, demobilization, and clean turnover to the owner. What Success Looks Like Projects begin with effective preparatory planning and are delivered safely, on schedule, within tolerance, and with minimal rework. QA/QC submittals, inspections, testing, and closeout documentation are anticipated and supported without avoidable delays. Teams understand the plan, work together, meet commitments, and grow under clear expectations, consistent coaching, and fair accountability. Owners and internal leaders receive accurate, timely, solutions-oriented communication and view Meridian as a trusted partner. Job sites close cleanly and completely, with punch-list, documentation, turnover, and demobilization requirements finished on time. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of heavy civil or mining construction experience, including leadership of earthwork, pipe, utility, or mine-infrastructure crews. Mine-site construction experience is strongly preferred, with an understanding of mine-owner standards, communication protocols, access requirements, and operating environments. Proven success planning and delivering grading, utilities, roadways, mine infrastructure, or comparable heavy civil scopes from mobilization through closeout. Strong understanding of cut/fill balance, haul cycles, production planning, excavation and trench safety, and field quality controls. Working knowledge of preparatory planning, submittals, inspections, testing, as-builts, punch lists, and QA/QC closeout requirements. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, production reports, and survey data, and translate them into executable field plans. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, develop team members, and follow through consistently. Strong written and verbal communication skills with field teams, internal leadership, subcontractors, inspectors, and mine-based owners. OSHA 30 and MSHA Blue Card required, or ability to obtain prior to hire; valid driver's license and ability to travel to regional job sites. Why Meridian?
