Job Description
MAIN PURPOSE
Responsible for the development of long-term mining plans including mine design and scheduling.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES
- Prepare the Life-of-Mine (LOM) plan for production; including mine design and scheduling
- Assist in determining economic cut-off grades which are technically defensible and aligned with Talon's long-term strategic objectives
- Support the preparation and reconciliation of Mineral Reserve statements
- Develop and evaluate planning scenarios, assessing and quantifying key trade-offs and impacts
- Incorporate geological models and geotechnical constraints (e.g., lithology, structure, ground support requirements, stope dimensions, sequencing limitations) to ensure practical and stable plans
- Ensure mine services requirements (ventilation, dewatering, communications) are incorporated into long-range plans, and assist with related engineering, as required
- Oversee continuous improvement projects related to mining or maintenance activities, as directed.
- Ensure mine plans conform with all regulatory permits and standards.
- Collaborate with Talon's corporate technical services group in project planning and implementation.
- Perform other duties assigned.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mining or Geological Engineering; appropriate combination of education and experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree requirements.
- 3-7 years of professional experience (technical and/or operations); underground experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills and previous experience with mining software required. (e.g. Deswik, Vulcan)
- Experience in mine planning backfill systems, underground rock mechanics, ground support design, and mine ventilation systems.
- Experience with paste backfilling systems preferred.
- Strong analytical abilities along with good communication skills
- Project Management skills would be an asset.

- Only use equipment you are trained to use and operate the equipment in a way that is safe, protects the environment and doesn't cause undue community impacts.
- Participate in HSEC training provided to them
- Report all incidents; including but not limited to injuries, near miss, community interactions and impacts, environmental impacts, spills, unsafe work practices, etc.
