Responsibilities overview: We are looking for a short-term contractor to manage and expand the Interfaith Council of Metropolitan Washington's (IFC) Annual Unity Walk. This person would be the point of contact for all engagement with host congregations on the walk, workshop development, digital outreach, logistics, and fundraising. This position is under the supervision of IFC's Associate Director. The Unity Walk is a large-scale interfaith event that brings together more than 600 participants of all ages and backgrounds from throughout the DMV region for a day of experiential learning, intercultural exchange, artistic engagement, and joyful community-building across religious and cultural traditions. The Unity Walk is now in its 21st year and is a signature IFC program.
Length of contract:
3 months (with the possibility of extending the contract to include other projects)
Location:
This person must be in the DMV and come into the office 2-3x/week Coordinate and/or oversee all aspects of IFC's annual Unity Walk including: Primary liaison with host congregations Create and manage all additional programming (workshops, dialogues, service project, etc) along the route Recruit, manage and mobilize volunteers, performers, speakers, and workshop leaders Manage IFC website and all digital and promotional content related to the Walk Manage all outreach efforts including to congregations, organizations, local universities and colleges, businesses, local governments, and other District-based non-profits Secure sponsorships for the Walk Recruit and manage Unity Walk Resource Fair participants Submit relevant permits and liaise with Metropolitan Police as needed Submit and track all revenue and expenses
Essential Skills:
Comfortable with Google Suite Comfortable using social media, especially Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram Comfortable using Canva and e-newsletter platforms (we use Mailchimp) Experience managing large events with many moving parts Detail oriented and have very strong organizational skills Enjoy bringing creative ideas to the table and be able to execute them Enjoy working with individuals and communities from diverse faith traditions Be able to work within a limited budget Ability to think creatively and solve problems Ability to build relationships across diverse sectors Ability to be a team player and take on other responsibilities as needed
Desired Skills:
Experience with basic fundraising Knowledge of DC-area and its diverse faith communities Experience with a content management system for tracking donations or be willing to learn Experience with ticketing platforms (we use Givebutter) or be willing to learn Experience with updating a website from the back-end or be willing to learn Education and Work Experience A Bachelor's Degree or higher 3+ years working in the non-profit world including: religious or spiritual spaces, community building, civic engagement, dialogue, or the arts About the
