About Mustard Seed Christian Daycare Mustard Seed Christian Daycare has grown from a small vision into a vibrant ministry serving families throughout Vermilion County and the surrounding area. Located in the former Rossville-Alvin Grade School in Rossville, Illinois, Mustard Seed provides a nurturing, faith-based environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We serve over 90 children, offering both childcare and preschool programs. Through a combination of structured learning, creative play, and spiritual development, the daycare supports each child's physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual growth. Daily activities include interactive classroom learning, Bible stories and lessons, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and special events that bring families and the community together. Role Summary The Executive Director (ED) serves as the strategic and operational leader of Mustard Seed Christian Daycare, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, staff leadership, financial sustainability, compliance, and community engagement, while advancing the mission and long-term vision of the organization. The ED works closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the daycare operates with excellence, integrity, and impact for the families and children it serves. Leadership & Vision Lead and execute the overall mission, vision, and strategic direction of the organization Partner with the Board to develop and implement short-term and long-term goals Foster a positive, Christ-centered culture for staff, children, and families Serve as the face of the organization in the community Operations Management Oversee the leadership team's daily operations of daycare Ensure compliance with DCFS and all state childcare regulations Oversee and maintain a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment Implement and improve systems, workflows, and policies Staff Leadership & HR Hire, train, and supervise all staff (teachers, aides, admin) Oversee staff schedules to maintain ratios and efficiency Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching Support staff retention, morale, and professional development Financial Oversight & Fundraising Oversee budget, expenses, and financial reporting Oversee tuition structure, billing, and collections Identify and pursue grants, donations, and fundraising opportunities Ensure responsible stewardship of nonprofit funds Marketing & Enrollment Growth Lead enrollment strategy to maintain full capacity Oversee marketing efforts (social media, website, local outreach) Build relationships with families and community partners Strengthen brand reputation and visibility Compliance & Administration Maintain nonprofit compliance (501c3 requirements, reporting, board support) Ensure licensing files, child records, and audits are up to date Oversee food program compliance and reporting Develop and maintain policies, handbooks, and procedures Board Relations Serve as the primary liaison between staff and Board of Directors Provide regular reports on operations, finances, and growth Assist in board development, planning, and governance Delivers board packets to the board of directors prior to board meetings
