Executive Director Description:
Executive Director Position Riverstage at Herter Park - Allston, Massachusetts the Organization The Friends of Herter Park (FOHP) is a dynamic Boston-based nonprofit artsanization dedicated to presenting high-quality, accessible cultural programming at Riverstage, an outdoor amphitheater located along the south bank of the Charles River in Allston, Massachusetts. In partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) through a long-term lease, and with significant support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism, the City of Boston, and other key partners, FOHP has:
  • Stabilized and revitalized the amphitheater's physical structure and surrounding site
  • Contributed to the master planning process for DCR's broader park renovations
  • Established Riverstage as a vibrant performance venue, valuedmunity gathering space, and significant cultural asset As we enter an exciting new chapter of growth, FOHP is expanding partnerships, deepening audience engagement, and enhancing Riverstage's operational and programmatic capacity.
Our goal is clear and ambitious: to elevate Riverstage from a "hidden jewel" to one of Boston's premier seasonal outdoor music and performance venues. To achieve this vision, we seek an aplished and entrepreneurial Executive Director. Position Overview The Executive Director will be a Boston-based leader responsible for fundraising, strategic planning, operations, and promotion. ing to the FOHP Board President, the Executive Director will guide theanization's financial and strategic direction while overseeing the day-to-day management of Riverstage's business affairs. This role requires a highlyanized, mission-driven professional who thrives in a collaborative,munity-centered environment and is energized by building systems, strengthening partnerships, and delivering results. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Financial Management
  • Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the Board
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations
  • Prepare and manage aprehensive annual budget
  • Oversee all financial operations, including invoicing, taxpliance, 1099s, banking, and reporting Programming & Community Engagement
  • Oversee program planning, implementation, expansion, and evaluation
  • Strengthen audience awareness, engagement, and satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with DCR, government agencies, performers, vendors, volunteers, neighbors, andmunity partners
  • Expand Riverstage's presence within the greater Boston arts ecosystem Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Lead administrative, operations, and promotions functions through coaching, mentoring, and professional development
  • Hire, contract, and manage staff, contractors, vendors, and volunteers as needed
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture grounded inmunity participation
  • Schedule and lead Board meetings, prepare and distribute minutes
  • Maintain regularmunication with the Board President
  • Oversee capital improvements and facility upgrades Marketing & Communications
  • Oversee social media and strategy, content development, and campaigns
  • Strengthen Riverstage's visibility and brand across the metro-Boston region Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency with fundraising platforms, banking systems, and digital tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Familiarity with the cultural and civic landscape of Boston, including Allston and Brightonmunities Compensation & Terms
  • Initial six-month 1099 contract; continuation contingent upon fundraising performance

$35,000

  • Hybrid work structure possible; regular on-site presence required during summer/fall performances and for key in-person meetings throughout the year
