Primarily onsite, with flexibility for remote work and external meetings, occasional evenings or weekends. About Bessie Green Bessie Green Community, Inc. ("BGC") is a Newark-based nonprofit providing food, clothing, and other support to our neighbors with compassion and dignity. We are seeking an Executive Director ("ED") to lead the organization's strategy, fundraising, staff, partnerships, and continued growth. The Role The Executive Director is BGC's chief executive and public face. The ED is responsible for the organization's overall performance and sustainability, with a strong focus on fundraising, grant development, corporate and community partnerships, staff leadership, and strategic direction. The ED is accountable for the success of BGC's programs and operations. Key Responsibilities Lead BGC's strategic direction and organizational priorities. Develop and execute fundraising, grant, and revenue strategies through effective storytelling of the Bessie Green mission. Cultivate donors, funders, corporate partners, government agencies, and community relationships. Supervise, develop, and mentor Program Manager, who is responsible for day-to day operations of Bessie Green programs. Provide oversight of programs, finances, compliance, and organizational performance. Work closely with the Board on strategy, governance, fundraising, and financial sustainability. Serve as BGC's primary spokesperson and representative in the community. Build the systems and staff capacity needed for sustainable organizational growth.
Qualifications:
Nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven leadership experience. Experience managing staff. Demonstrated fundraising and grant-writing experience. Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Understanding nonprofit budgeting and financial management. Ability to delegate effectively while staying connected to programs and the community. Knowledge of Newark's non-profit landscape and services will be an asset. Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
