Job Description

Executive Director Oberlin Early Childhood Center (OECC) | Oberlin, Ohio The Oberlin Early Childhood Center, a cornerstone of the Oberlin community and a leader in high-quality early childhood education, is seeking a visionary, compassionate, and strategic Executive Director. About the Organization OECC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a diverse, inclusive, and nurturing environment for children from infancy through school-age. We pride ourselves on our Step Up To Quality Gold rating and our unique partnership with the Oberlin community and Oberlin College. Our mission is to ensure that every child thrives, and we believe that every child deserves a foundation of excellence and a high-quality education, regardless of socioeconomic background. The Role As the Executive Director, you will serve as the "Captain of the Ship," balancing the administrative rigor of a non-profit business with the heart and soul required for early childhood advocacy. You will oversee all operations, financial health, and strategic growth, while fostering a culture of professional excellence for our dedicated staff.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a long-range strategic plan that aligns with OECC's mission and ensures long-term sustainability.
Financial Stewardship:
Manage a complex budget involving tuition, state funding (ODJFS), grants, and private donations. Lead fundraising initiatives and grant-writing efforts.
Operational Oversight:
Ensure compliance with all state licensing requirements and NAEYC accreditation standards. Participate in curriculum development and implementation.
Community Engagement:
Act as the primary face of OECC, building strong relationships with OECC families, the Board of Directors, Oberlin College, and local partners and institutions.
Staff Empowerment:
Lead, mentor, recruit, and retain a high-performing team of educators and administrative staff, promoting a culture of continuous professional development aligned with the Reggio Emilia-inspired approach. OECC currently uses Creative Curriculum as its primary curriculum framework.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree in same fields preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience, ideally within an early childhood setting.
Licensing Knowledge:
Deep familiarity with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regulations and Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) ratings.
