LOCATION
During the probationary period, this role is fully onsite in Napa, CA. Once probation is completed, you may be assigned to Napa, West Fairfield, or West Sacramento, with the expectation that you can travel to different locations when required.
SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, full-time at 40 hours per week, with the expectation of occasional work outside standard business hours to support community events. A hybrid remote schedule becomes available after successfully completing the probationary period.

( does this position have direct reports ): YES About CommuniCare+OLE Established in 2023, CommuniCare+OLE is the result of a union of two health centers with deep roots in their respective communities and reputations for providing high-quality primary care to all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay: OLE Health of Napa and Solano Counties and CommuniCare Health Centers of Yolo County. Building on a legacy established by both organizations in 1972, CommuniCare+OLE is a network of federally-qualified health centers with 17 sites across Napa, Solano, and Yolo Counties. It offers comprehensive care, including medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use treatment, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, care coordination, referrals, and enrollment assistance to more than 70,000 individuals, and no one is turned away due to lack of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Many services are offered outside of its sites, including mobile health, home visiting, and community and school-based programs.

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW
The Director of Philanthropy is a senior development leader responsible for driving seven-figure annual philanthropic revenue in support of CommuniCare+OLE's mission across its three-county service region. Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), this role leads comprehensive fundraising strategy with a strong focus on fundraising events, major gifts, private foundations, planned giving, and strategic donor communications. The Director of Philanthropy oversees a growing philanthropy team, manages a portfolio of high-capacity donors and institutional funders, and builds long-term philanthropic partnerships that advance sustainable revenue growth. This position plays a critical role in executing the organization's development strategy and strengthening a culture of philanthropy across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is a strategic, results-driven leader with demonstrated success closing six- and seven-figure gifts, running large-scale donor events, building high-performing teams, and developing long-term donor pipelines. MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS/TRAINING Education:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Administration or other relevant field desired, or comparable experience required. CFRE preferred
Experience/Lived Experience:
10+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, including major gifts and foundation fundraising. Experience working with a volunteer board of directors and high net worth donors. Experience in healthcare, community health, or a mission-driven organization strongly preferred. Familiarity with California-based private foundations and regional philanthropy.
Special Skills/Training:
Demonstrated success securing six- and seven-figure gifts. Experience managing and developing high-performing fundraising teams. Experience executing comprehensive philanthropy strategies in partnership with senior leadership. Knowledge of and relationships with local, regional and statewide private foundations. Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and revenue forecasting skills. Exceptional ability to create compelling donor communications that demonstrate impact and drive revenue. Expertise in utilizing donor databases/CRM systems and performance metrics to support effective moves management. Experience working with diverse populations, particularly Latino/Hispanic communities. Knowledge of California and federal healthcare policy and funding environments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Proficient in multiple software and database systems, including Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively. Maintains a high level of professionalism; performs effectively in fast-paced environments, responds well under pressure, treats others with respect, takes accountability and follows through on commitments. Demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent customer service, is collaborative, adaptable and action-oriented Maintains strong relationships with donors, board members, community leaders, and colleagues through courteous and clear communication. In partnership with the CDO, develop and execute annual and multi-year revenue plans aligned with organizational priorities and that generate seven-figure annual revenue. Build and manage a strong pipeline of major gift prospects, foundation partners, and planned giving prospects across Napa, Yolo, and Solano counties and execute complex strategies and high-level solicitations. Establish measurable goals and key performance indicators for revenue performance. Provide regular forecasting, reporting, and analysis to the CDO and executive leadership, including clear portfolio assignments, revenue targets, and accountability standards for members of the Philanthropy team. Personally manage a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects Execute compelling annual giving campaigns including establishing fundraising goals, developing campaign messaging and materials, and campaign results evaluation. Implement a planned giving strategy to grow legacy commitments including identifying planned giving prospects within the existing donor base, partnering with professional advisors to increase awareness of legacy giving opportunities and tracking documented planned gifts to ensure strong long-term donor relationships Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional and statewide private foundations. Identify and pursue foundation funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities. Collaborate with finance leadership to develop compelling proposals and funding strategies. Lead development of a comprehensive donor communications program that ensures consistent, compelling communication of impact across the three-county region. Oversee development-related publications, impact reports and campaign messaging. Build philanthropic visibility and relationships across the organization's three-county service region. Represent CommuniCare+OLE in regional philanthropic and community forums Leverage board and community networks to expand donor reach and influence. Performs other duties as assigned.
