Job Description
Based in downtown Boston, the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA) is a social justice organization, devoted to defending civil rights, preserving constitutional liberties, and pursuing social, economic, environmental, and racial justice for all people. We're seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and collaborative Gift Officer, to be an instrumental part of a small, hard-working development team. Reporting to the Deputy Director for Development and Operations, the Gift Officer will support new donor acquisition, as well as cultivate, solicit and steward mid-level donors. This position will serve as both an individual revenue producer, as well as support for the CEO and development team. The role will help develop a healthy donor pipeline and strengthen relationships with mid-level donors.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with the CEO, Deputy Director, development team and volunteers on fundraising strategy for new and existing JALSA donors; Identify new prospects; Create strategies focused on acquiring new donors and expanding the existing pipeline; Prospect and build a strong giving pipeline; Manage mid-level donor relationships and solicit gifts using moves management best practices; Participate in weekly development meetings; Work with the development team to develop and implement the annual fundraising plan; Attend and staff fundraising events; Other duties as assigned.Qualifications and skills:
College degree plus at least 3 years' experience in donor relations/donor services, midlevel giving, or equivalent experience at a nonprofit organization. (Will consider other experience); Proven track record of working in an external-facing role and knowledge of customer service practices; Outgoing nature, self-starter, enjoys calling donors, developing relationships, and soliciting donations. Comfortable talking on the phone to donors and initiating relationships; Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and persuasive skills and excellent networking abilities; Ability to communicate comfortably with a wide range of people; Strong customer service skills; Other Requirements Evenings and some weekend work required (with commensurate schedule flexibility); Ability to travel locally to attend fundraising events.Also Highly Desired:
