Job Description

PrideStaff is seeking an experienced, mission-minded Non-Profit Controller to lead financial operations for a highly respected, high-impact community organization in Pinellas County. This position can be remote for a Tampa Bay based professional. This role is ideal for a financial leader who thrives in non-profit accounting, excels at navigating complex grant structures, and enjoys leading a small, dedicated team. You will serve as the chief financial operator—handling high-level strategy and oversight while working alongside an external CPA firm for annual tax and audit filings. CPA designation is NOT required. We care far more about your practical experience with non-profit fund accounting, team management, and grant lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct all day-to-day accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and budget preparation for the organization. Manage the end-to-end grant financial process: tracking, compliance, budget allocations, applications, reporting, and fund accounting. Supervise, mentor, and support internal accounting staff to ensure efficient work distribution and strong performance. Oversee general ledger accounts, revenue tracking, and restricted/unrestricted fund balance management using MIP software. Partner with external CPA firms to facilitate annual audits, tax filings, and 990 preparation. Maintain robust internal controls and ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal donor guidelines. Present regular financial analysis and budget updates to executive leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Mandatory:
Direct experience using MIP Fund Accounting software.
Mandatory:
Strong background in non-profit accounting and multi-source grant management (federal, state, and private). Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop accounting personnel. Deep understanding of fund accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and compliance. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent hands-on experience strongly considered). Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check and pre-employment screening.
Benefits & Perks:
Competitive salary based on experience Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holiday schedule Retirement savings plan Stable day-shift schedule in a supportive, purpose-driven work environment Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $90,000.00 - $130,000.00
