Job Description

About US Germantown Community Theatre (GCT) is a non‐profit 501(c)(3) organization set in an intimate 98‐seat theatre located in Germantown, TN. Our mission is to entertain, educate, engage, and enrich the community through theatrical programming. Germantown Community Theatre is seeking a visionary and strategic Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and artistic excellence. This role calls for a dynamic leader who can balance big-picture thinking with hands-on executions. The Executive Director will report to the GCT Board of Directors and lead the GCT staff. The goal is to have this person on staff on or before June 1, 2026. Job Summary The Executive Director serves as the senior day-to-day leader of Germantown Community Theatre (GCT) and is accountable for operational performance, financial stewardship, and fundraising success. This role is responsible for ensuring the theatre runs efficiently, sustainably, and professionally across all functions, including facility operations, administrative execution, revenue generation, and community engagement.
Executive Director Responsibilities:
This role leads all administrative and business functions, including budgeting, fundraising, and resource development, while partnering closely with the Board of Directors to align on governance and long-term strategy. The Executive Director oversees staff leadership and organizational culture, ensuring a high-performing, collaborative environment that supports artistic success.
Fundraising & Community Engagement :
Lead and drive all fundraising strategies and execution in partnership with the Board of Directors Own donor cultivation, stewardship, and sponsorship development to expand and diversify revenue streams Serve as the primary ambassador of GCT, building high-impact relationships and elevating the theatre's presence across the community Champion and actively represent GCT at events, civic engagements, and key stakeholder forums
Programming & Marketing Leadership :
Partner strategically with the Artistic Director to align programming with organizational vision, audience growth, and financial sustainability Oversee marketing and audience development strategy to increase attendance, engagement, and brand visibility Direct public relations efforts to position GCT as a premier cultural destination in the region
Operations & Administration :
Provide executive oversight of all day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and a best-in-class patron experience Lead organizational culture and staff performance, including HR oversight, talent development, and team alignment Ensure the facility operates at the highest standards of safety, functionality, and guest experience
Financial Oversight :
Own financial performance, including budget development, monitoring, and long-term fiscal strategy Deliver clear, data-driven financial and operational reporting to the Board Partner with the Treasurer and Finance Committee to ensure strong financial governance and sustainability
Board Relations :
Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment of strategy, performance, and organizational priorities Proactively advise the Board on opportunities, risks, and strategic direction Support Board development and engagement to strengthen governance and organizational impact Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Administration, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience, with a demonstrated track record of executive-level responsibility in a profit, nonprofit, arts, or mission-driven organization.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to move throughout the facility for extended periods, including during events and productions.
  • The position may require occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds (e.
g., event supplies, marketing materials), as well as the ability to navigate stairs, backstage areas, and auditorium spaces.

Pay:
