Job Description
Assistant Operations OfficerAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Officer to support the day-to-day customer service and operational functions of an assigned bank branch. This role is responsible for ensuring branch operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable banking regulations and internal policies.
The Assistant Operations Officer will coordinate staff coverage, review and approve transactions within established authority, monitor daily operational reports, support risk management, and help maintain high standards of customer service and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of bank branch operations, regulatory requirements, transaction approval processes, and staff supervision, along with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily branch operations to ensure high levels of customer service, operational efficiency, and compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Review and approve transactions within established authority and guidelines.
Ensure the branch effectively manages risks associated with customer relationships and escalate potential loss situations to appropriate senior management and internal departments.
Maintain sound operating conditions by ensuring timely completion of monthly branch certifications and operational reviews.
Support the branch in achieving established bank and branch goals, including cross-selling products and services.
Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss products, services, productivity, customer relations, and satisfaction.
Identify customer service issues, coordinate timely resolution, and recommend improvements to operational efficiency and productivity.
Provide guidance and support to branch employees regarding procedures, personnel administration, and customer service matters.
Provide training and cross-training on banking procedures, products, and applicable regulations.
Support performance reviews and employee development, with emphasis on coaching, customer service, sales, and referral activities.
Prepare and review BSA-related monitoring reports.
Maintain compliance with applicable banking regulations and internal policies.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
QualificationsEducationCollege degree preferred, particularly coursework in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, but not required.
ExperienceMinimum 5 years of bank branch operations experience.
Previous experience with transaction approval authority.
Demonstrated experience supervising or leading branch staff.
Strong understanding of branch operations, banking products, and regulatory requirements.
Skills & CompetenciesThorough knowledge of bank branch operations and applicable banking regulations.
Strong understanding of bank products and services.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced branch environment.
Sound judgment and ability to identify and escalate operational and customer-related risks.
Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.
