Job Requirements Fort Bragg, NC Top Secret/SCI Polygraph not specified Senior Level Career (10+ yrs experience) Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description Senior Operations SME The Senior Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as the primary liaison between the organization, U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Special Operations Task Forces (SOTFs), and other USASOC elements. The Senior Operations SME provides operational expertise, mission coordination, technical consultation, and program support for the development, evaluation, and employment of specialized armament systems, munitions, and related technologies in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF) missions. This position supports mission-needs identification, prototyping, experimentation, test and evaluation activities, capability development, and operational assessments to ensure weapon systems and technologies meet evolving Special Operations requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization, USASOC, SOTFs, and other USASOC elements.
  • Coordinate mission requirements and facilitate communication between operational units, government stakeholders, engineers, and program managers.
  • Identify operational capability gaps and support the development of solutions to meet emerging mission requirements.
  • Provide operational insight and recommendations supporting Special Operations capability development initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special programs supporting SOF operational objectives.
  • Support the prototyping, experimentation, testing, and evaluation of special armament systems, munitions, and related technologies.
  • Assess new armament systems and provide operational feedback regarding mission utility, effectiveness, suitability, and survivability.
  • Participate in technical demonstrations, operational assessments, user evaluations, and field testing activities.
  • Support Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) efforts and provide recommendations for system improvements.
  • Analyze operational performance data and user feedback to support acquisition and capability development decisions.
  • Support the formulation of new program requirements and capability development initiatives.
  • Identify emerging military requirements and recommend armament, munition, and technology solutions to address operational challenges.
  • Assist in translating operational requirements into technical and programmatic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with government, military, and industry partners to identify innovative solutions that enhance SOF mission effectiveness.
  • Provide on-site consultation and technical advisory support at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, and other locations as required.
  • Assist government personnel with special program planning, execution, and completion.
  • Provide operational and technical expertise regarding weapon systems development, testing methodologies, and employment concepts.
  • Support the design, planning, and evaluation of weapon systems and ordnance firing range evaluation facilities.
  • Provide recommendations to improve technical and operational effectiveness of testing and training facilities.
  • Assist in the development of future concepts, requirements, and capabilities related to armament and weapons systems.
  • Prepare operational assessments, technical reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior government and military leadership.
  • Analyze test results, operational performance data, and user feedback to support informed decision-making.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders, program offices, and operational stakeholders.
  • Support strategic planning efforts related to future armament systems, technologies, and operational capabilities. Qualifications
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; equivalent military experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting Special Operations Forces, military operations, weapons systems, armament programs, or related defense programs.
  • Experience working with USASOC, USSOCOM, SOTFs, or other Special Operations organizations.
  • Experience supporting weapons systems development, test and evaluation, operational assessments, or capability development initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leaders.
  • Ability to travel as required to support program activities, testing events, and consultations.
  • Experience supporting research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) programs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Special Operations missions, requirements, and operational environments.
  • Knowledge of military weapons systems, armament technologies, and munitions.
  • Ability to evaluate operational effectiveness and mission utility of emerging technologies.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, assessments, and executive-level presentations.
