Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused Seward Port Manager to oversee our port operations in Seward, Alaska. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating day-to-day waterfront activities, supervising personnel, supporting vessel operations, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, and serving as a key point of contact for customers, crews, vendors, and company leadership. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who communicates well, stays organized in a fast-paced environment,and understands the importance of safety, reliability, and customer service in marine and port operations. Duties Manage and coordinate daily port and waterfront operations in Seward. Supervise, schedule, and provide direction to port personnel. Coordinate vessel arrivals, departures, loading/unloading activities, and other operational needs. Ensure operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations. Conduct or oversee safety meetings, inspections, and operational checks. Maintain clear communication with vessel crews, customers, vendors, contractors, and company management. Coordinate equipment, supplies, personnel, and other resources needed for port operations. Monitor facility, dock, yard, and equipment conditions and arrange maintenance or repairs as needed. Maintain accurate operational records, reports, timekeeping, and other required documentation. Respond professionally and effectively to changing schedules, weather conditions, operational challenges, and customer needs. Help train and develop employees while maintaining clear expectations for safety, performance, and professionalism. Assist with staffing, and employee performance as needed. Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, service, and overall port operations. Perform other duties necessary to support successful operations. Qualifications Previous experience in port, marine, maritime, transportation, logistics, terminal, or similar operations. Previous supervisory or management experience. Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills. A strong commitment to workplace safety. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions under pressure. Ability to work effectively with employees, vessel crews, customers, vendors, and management. Basic computer skills and the ability to complete operational reports and documentation. A valid driver licenses and acceptable driving record. Ability to work outdoors in Alaska weather conditions. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when vessel schedules or operational needs require it. This position may require standing and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs or ladders, working around docks and vessels, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
