First-line supervise and assign soybean, corn, and rice field workers/laborers to till soil, spray crop protection chemicals, put out fertilizer, cultivate, prepare ground for planting, plant crops and fallow ground crops, and harvest the crops (soybean, corn, and rice). Uses knowledge, experience and skills necessary to direct operations of both harvesters and mechanical planters. Oversee the operation and assist in the training of others on proper calibration of chemical sprayers and fertilizer application rigs. Observe and report on the maintenance and operation of soybean, corn, and rice farming machinery. Assist in planning farming activities based on factors such as weather or crop maturity. Assist in the inspection of the crops and fields to determine conditions and need for successful harvesting. Direct preparation of the fields for the upcoming season. First-line supervise Farmworker and Field/Laborer workers (up to 12 workers). Answer directly to the Farm Manager. 40hrs/wk. M-F. Schedule may change due to farming conditions. Overtime hours will vary. Two (2) years' verifiable experience as a Soybean, Corn, And Rice Field Worker/Laborer is the minimum required. No managerial or supervisory experience required. No minimum education level is required. No training is required, and no training is offered for the position. There is no requirement that the employee must live on the employer's premises, and this is not an option for the permanent role.
