This role leads and expands field service operations for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the United States, delivering best-in-class service and maintenance for utility-scale installs. The manager ensures execution and ongoing development of organizational capabilities, processes, systems, and reporting to provide excellent operational support for Tesla's energy storage assets. The individual collaborates closely with Asset Management, Engineering, Coordination, and cross-functional teams to enhance end-to-end operations processes and achieve industry-leading uptime targets while maintaining cost effectiveness. What You'll Do Lead a high-performing Utility Energy Storage Field Service team with a safety-first culture, driving industry-leading uptime through clear KPIs and OKRs Partner with Coordination and Asset Management to optimize scheduling, resource allocation, and parts availability to achieve First Visit Success on utility-scale BESS sites Resolve escalated site issues and performance challenges in collaboration with Asset Management and customer teams; provide on-site support for complex technical troubleshooting when needed Develop and enforce field service best practices for utility-scale BESS, including third-party and subcontractor performance standards, maintenance processes, and diagnostic procedures Maintain regular field presence across regions to monitor asset performance, support technicians, and identify operational improvement opportunities Drive continuous improvement of tools, processes, and technologies with Engineering to enhance asset reliability, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction What You'll Bring Qualified Electrician or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechatronics) or equivalent experience Ability to travel up to two weeks, with advanced notice Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience, 3 of which in a comparable role preferably managing field teams Proven track record of highly effective team leadership Exceptional communication abilities across all facets of an organization (senior leadership, peers, sales, deployment and engineering teams) Previous experience in establishing and scaling a highly successful service/operations & maintenance organization Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of power systems including testing, diagnosis, HVAC service, inverters and repair of electronic systems and photovoltaic modules a plus Knowledge and experience using scan tools, development, following diagnostics and operating diagnostic equipment a plus Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $178,600 - $267,900/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
